Student in Italy or Ireland
I am planning on engaging in a foreign exchange program within the next couple of years. The two countries that I am torn between are Italy or Ireland. Im mostly interested in living in a chillier environment but of course that all depends on what time of year I go. Italy offers a chance to learn a new language and that is a big pro because I am very interested in learning a new language. What country in Europe would you most recommend for an american student to go to as a foreign exchange student? Either Italy or Ireland -- or another country that you think would be a better choice?

Obviously Italy will be better place to learn language and pursue your professional or academic program. As we all know Italy has contributed a lot in preparation & presentation of food, fashion designing, art, culture, music, cosmetics etc. Best wishes.

I would strongly suggest studying abroad in Italy. The chance to learn a new language and practice it on a daily basis is very rewarding. You'll be shocked by the new confidence and independence you gain when you find yourself navigating the country without a word of English. And of course, you'll still have access to Europe's excellent public transportation to travel to Ireland. I love Ireland as a travel destination but wouldn't give up the chance to learn a foreign language.

If you're at all interested in learning a new language, then the choice is clear -- go to Italy. You'd already be in Europe so you would be able to easily travel to Ireland during school breaks. You probably will want to take your courses in English, while taking an intensive Italian class so that you could take advantage of being surrounded by the Italian language. The most important ones are Pisa (with its famous Leaning Tower), Venice (a city on the water, you can visit it on a "gondola"), Naples, pizza's birthplace, where you can eat a fabolous pastry called "Sfogliatella".

I'm going to be an exchange student... anyone have experience from Italy?
I'm going my sophomore year, and my first choice is Italy, but otherwise, Japan, or Brazil. Anyone have experience in any of those countries, or any other exchange students, on the exchange? Oh yes, and I'm from the united states.

She will be working with a Italian professor for about 2-3 months and then come back to the US. Would she need a visa and if yes, where should she apply for one? Is there an online way of getting things done?

Hi! My sister wanted to work over in England so from expierience yes, she would need a visa. I cannot say where to get one because i do not know where you live. But I can say that you cannot do this online. ( I think)

What do you recommend, Los Angeles-London and then London to Florence. I'm on a tight budget and I would prefer May 29-June 29, around those days. I'm pretty flexible for those dates, I just have to be in Florence by June 3.
