I so badly want to be an exchange student in Italy for 3 months...but how do I convince my mum?4 DAYS 2GO?
UNTIL THE DEADLINE!!!! What can I say to mum. My dad is fine with it, he thinks its a great oppurtunity and he's willing to pay but my mum just wants the money for herself to pay boring bills and she says im too shy and pathetic to live among complee strangers in a foreign country. I told her it will help but she doesnt care.

1) 4 days to go? no chance. 2) bills may be boring but you have to pay them unless your ma wants a lenghty stay in jail or a visit from the reposessors. just try and talk to your mum show her the good points and advantages. you might have a chance.

I had exactly the same problem. I went to Germany for three months, and it really helped a lot. My parents said that it won't be worthwhile and i could get a dud family - truth is - i could of, but i didn't - my family was great. However i do know of a girl who had a really bad family, so she just got a new family, and another girl took it as an oportunity to see how other families can be second - it's a great way to improve your speaking skills ( i presume you speak italian?) before i went i was struggling to pass my German tests, and my last test i got back i received 78% not only will your school marks improve, but also your out look on the Australian culture, and how different it is to other parts of the world. School is a lot different (i never learnt anything over there because they all spoke really fast and were doing subjects way to complex for me) but even so just being a bystander was quite interesting And if your mum says your to shy tell her that over in another country you don't have the opportunity to be shy, everything is so weird and you have to ask random people things or you get lost or forever wonder what it was. I was shy to, but now i'm exactly the opposite it is definately worthwhile and if they don't let you go your education in anther language and culture is greatly hindered. You won't come back shy and you'll be fantastic at speaking Italian (if you give it a go while your their - whihc i strongly urge you to do) the only fault i can say an exchange has .... leaving.... it's horrible! everything is so much more fun over there! hope that helps, keep trying to persuade them, its worth it. good luck

Firstly what I would do is I'll try to get my dad to convince her for me. Then I would also tell her that this would be a great opportunity and it may never come again. Also I would tell her that this would be a great time to learn to live and make decisions on my own so when I leave home I will be able to support myself and not rely fully on them. Also try to pray. If you don't beleive in praying, do it anyway, if it is his will you will go. It worked for me, and now I am in Aussie studying. Took a while to convince my parents, but once they see how matured you're behaving, it will be the hardest thing, but they'll let you go. Good luck with that.

Well, if you only speak French and English, don't go to Italy! They don't really speak either, seeing as the language there is Italian! (you'll find people who speak both, though quite likely not terribly well, and certainly not that many!) Go to France or Belgium, but the latter, only if you can be guaranteed to be in the French speaking part of the country. Or Luxembourg, if you need to have a third choice. And, well, it isn't the US, so there will be lots of soccer!

France. they play soccer too! and the french language will help. forget Belgium, if you have the choice

Back when i was in Youth group with my church most of us kids didn't have enough money to go on trips like your talking about so we goatherd some of the kids into groups and cleaned houses, yards, cars, even dredging ponds. We did anything from cleaning bird baths to windows. I'm sure there are other kids that have the same problem you have. Try to gather them together and give out brochures in your neighborhood. If you belong to a Church ask them to announce what your wrking for.
