Well, he'd have to change to some other sort of status, or he'd become illegal. Some students find employers to file work petitions for them, but this has become harder of late as these petitions are limited in number and run out very quickly each year. This year's quota has already come and gone and there will be no more until next April. If he wanted to continue to study in grad school, that might also be possible. However, if his status runs out before he can apply for something else, he won't be able to change here and would have to go home to apply. If he's out of status for 6 months or more, he would be ineligible for any visa for at least 3 years, so at that point, he wouldn't be able to get a visa to return even if he left.

What George mention is true but also if your friend is on F1 status he can stay for 1 more year doing he's OPT if is approve. That will buy him some time to find a way to change he's status. Now if you so interested in that friend you can also marry him and file a petition for immediate relative, I-130 & I-485 change of status that will resolve his problem LOL.

Very hard the laws have changed he would have to go back. Just to apply and it will take a long time.

What is the average cost of being an exchange student to Italy? I have been doing some research because I am interested in becoming an exchange student to a place such as Florence or Venice, Italy. One site said it would cost me about 13,000 dollars! Is that a reasonable or average price? Thanks! Studying Abroad - 1 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : Hi I am from Italy and have moved to the United states, however my family likes there and I visit them twice a year. Well How long are you going for? also what do you plan on ding while there for example will your meals be covered in the total bill or will you be responsible for that, how will you travel? by bis train eurail? Italy is expensive because of the Euro being so high, the exchange rate is 1 euro is about .62 cents so to make one euro you need almost two dollars. Venice is expensive as is Florence, you can walk around florence so your transportation will be cheap, but venice if you are considering the center of venice transportation can be difficult and expensive since it is not on land. If you will be going lets say for the whole summer, you have to take into consideration your pass times, will you travel, plan out your schedule, the eurail pass for students is very convenient and affordable and allows you to see europe. If you plan on stay ing around tuscany, 13, 000 dollars is approximately 6500 euros that can last you three months to 4 months depending on what you plan to do with your money. a pizza slice and a soda an be like 5 euros, a bus ticket is 2 euros, a club is like 30 euros, so it depends. good luck and have a blast. www.RailEurope.com/Official also you can google italian web sites by going to www.google.it, almost everyone in Italy speaks English.

you should talk to your school counselor
2 :
Go to your councellor and explain the resaons why you want to exchange to go to Italy. And they will help you.. and give you some information and what gpa you must have for example you might have good grades to go for exchange. Try to search on erasmus.. and the school you want to in Italy. I hope i can help you. Good luck!

You become an exchange student by first contacting a student exchange program like AFS, Rotary, or YFU. Then you apply by collecting lots of papers etc. You should talk to you counselor, because you need to work out what classes you will take before and after you go. You can go for a semester, summer, or year. You don't have to have straight A's. If you have B's or even a few C's you should be okay. Here are some sights of programs about how to become one: http://www.yfu-usa.org/ http://www.usa.afs.org/usa_en/focus_on/high_school http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYouth/youthprograms/RotaryYouthExchange/Pages/ridefault.aspx And here are some other good websites for exchange students: http://www.cultures-shocked.org/Joomla/forum/ http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/ ~good luck!

2 :
Contact your nearest Italian Consulate, http://www.expatsinitaly.com/before/consulates_canada.html
3 :
First you need to contact Italian Consulate or Embassy http://www.ambottawa.esteri.it/ambasciata_ottawa http://www.consvancouver.esteri.it/Consolato_Vancouver and ask for a student visa. You need to declare you have sufficient money to stay in Italy for al the period of your studies, that you have a place (house or room) where to stay in Italy, the ticket for coming back in your country or the money to buy it and so on. You have to take with you passport, photos, a document of the school that declare you came in Italy for study, anyway at Embassy they'll explain it better than me (and in a good English... sorry for my poor English)
