What is the cheapest way to get from Columbus, Ohio to Italy?
Hi everyone. I am an Ohio State student interested in visiting Italy this summer (2011). Money is a huge issue, so I am looking for the cheapest way to get there. I have heard that flying into Europe somewhere besides Italy and catching a train is cheaper than a direct flight. Can someone please provide advice/guidance as to how to get there as cheap as possible? It would be greatly appreciated!

The best way is to go onto orbitz.com choose the flexable plans link near the bottom. it will give you a 30 day price range. You can put in how long you want to go as well. You can put in different airports. I heard that going to london and taking the train to italy is a little cheaper. but i hope you have an extra 4 days for that (2 there , 2 back). Need pass port of course. good luck

Has anyone here been on a Student Exchange to another country?
I want to go on an exchange to Italy and I was just wondering if anyone has been on a student exchange to Italy or some other country. Was it worth while going? Are you please that you went? Would you recommend to others that they go? I just want to know if it was an experience that you will never forget and has it helped you in the future? Thanks for your answers.

I did 2 student exchanges - a year in France when I was in high school and a semester in Germany when I was at university. It was defintely worhtwhile and I would definitely do it again and tell others to do it. When I have kids, I'm also going to hope that they go on an exchange. It's such an amazing opportunity to live in another country with a family, learning a new language, making new friends, and seeing things you would never have experienced back home. The experience also completely changed my future career plans. Before going abroad, I thought I would be a doctor or dentist, but instead got a job with a multinational company that has allowed me to work and travel around the world

American student wants to go to college in Italy?!? Is that possible?
im a sophomore in high school. college is something that is on my mind. Italy has been a place ive dreamed about going to all my life, and it is in my plan to live there when im older. So I want to attend college there when im older not just a semester or study abroad thing either. I want to major in political science and Minor in entrepreneurial studies.

Yes, most universities have over seas programs or exchange programs. But beware that anti-Americanism is currently extremely strong in Italy. Recently a US student studying there was accused and convicted of murder with extraordinarily weak evidence.
