Would Uni of Northern Carolina at Chapel Hill be a fun and safe place for an exchange student from Italy?

Would Uni of Northern Carolina at Chapel Hill be a fun and safe place for an exchange student from Italy?
Are people friendly there? Would I be stuck not having a car? Would it be a "Real American" environment or more of an international experience? Which are some nice places to visit around there? Thanks for your help, I appreciate that!

UNC is a great school. My best friend goes there and it was one of the universities I was looking into. They have a lot of school pride, they're excellent academically, and there are many activities for international students. You probably won't be able to have a car, but you can always find friends with them or take buses or cabs. People are people so you'll find nice ones and some not so nice ones. Aaand America is a huge country so to say you'll have the "real american" experience is hard to say. It's a great college and shows college life well and because it's a popular school you'll meet more people from across the country and not just people from North Carolina (though that will probably be the majority) UNC is super close the the beach and only a few hours away from Myrtle Beach and other landmarks, you'll have a great time there I think. :)
